LORENZO ABATTOIR / GUILLERMO PIZARRO DUO

(Torino, Italy / West Virginia )

Lorenzo Abattoir is a sound artist based in Torino (IT). A key element of his work is the relationship between performative acts and unusual methods of audio processing, mainly focusing on the use of microphones, blurring the lines between musical instruments and recording devices. He explores the boundaries of sound and noise using breathing techniques and bodily sounds as instruments to structure his performances.

Guillermo Pizarro uses field recordings, tapes, noise, synths and ambient textures to achieve his cinematic storytelling through sound. He also runs Flag Day Recordings, a US label focused on promoting experimental music, harsh noise, ambient and soundtracks. Starting in 2024, Flag Day has added a production branch via Vitória Régia Studios focused on mastering, mixing and film scoring.

DEI XHRIST

(Manchester, NH )

Dei Xhrist is a multidisciplinary artist using sound, performance, and sculpture.

Dei Xhrist uses voice, electronics, and movement to create vocal performances that merge choral with noise. Audiences are pulled in with gentle hymns, breaking down to glossolalia, and swept over with a cathartic purge of anger, pain, and frustration to reveal a wet and raw triumph of will. Each performance is improvised.

Xhrist’s voice has been favorably compared to Diamanda Galas. She uses vocal drones, tone poetry, jazz, lounge, and belle voce with a graceful stage presence that has been known to evolve in to a physical assault past the fourth wall.

NO KOUDAI

(Manchester, NH )

NO KOUDAI, created by Jackson Rhodes in Lexington, Massachusetts in 2020, is a means for the artist to explore the world through collaboration. Most often in tandem with multimedia artist Asa Anderson, No Koudai is as much the artist's curation as it is the sounds and perspectives that lead towards its output. Hailing from a background in the finely-tuned environments of classical orchestras, Rhodes established No Koudai as a means to appreciate the beauty of music ever-present, created by the world and recognized by those who choose to seek it. Anchored by the artist's style, No Koudai has produced a variety of work, typically labelled in genres such as drone, ambient, instrumental hip-hop, neo-psychedelia, and plunderphonics. Often performing in public spaces, No Koudai combines viola/violin, synthesizers (Asa Anderson), field recordings, samples (Asa Anderson), digital textures, and effects hardware to create soundscapes in unique moments of bliss and dissonance. Simply put, noises go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
